Deliberate is a new organisation founded by Liam Killeen and Rowan Harris.

Liam has been organising, recruiting and facilitating community discussion spaces around food systems and climate change as a campaigner and community organiser for Animal Think Tank. Beyond his professional work, Liam is researching deliberative mini-publics around climate policy within the Climate Citizens project alongside Rebecca Willis.

 

Rowan has worked on climate and environmental security and policy issues at the international, national, and local levels. He is currently a project officer for Shared Future, a leading deliberative democracy organisation in the UK, where he organises and facilitates citizen’s juries on issues such as climate, emissions reductions, and sea level rise.

 

Deliberate is born out of their shared experiences of community discussions and participatory processes, and a recognition of the need to expand the Overton window and equip citizens with the tools to make change. It is founded on an ethos of experimentation, exploring new ways to help the public imagine and create a more ecologically-balanced future.
